Gautam Singhania & Wife Nawaz Modi

Nawaz: Gautam Singhania Forced me to Trek to Tirupati without food & water.

In the midst of their contentious divorce, Gautam Singhania’s estranged wife, Nawaz Modi, has made fresh accusations against the Raymond MD. The millionaire businessman Gautam Singhania, according to Modi, “forced her to trek to the Tirupati temple without food and water.” Singhania is a “big bhakt” of Lord Venkateswara, she added, “only because he is God of money.”

A report in India Today claims that an audio tape of Nawaz Modi has surfaced, in which she claims that if she consented to marry Singhania, he would take her to the Tirupati shrine in the hill town of Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh. Nawaz was then cited as stating that he made her do the difficult ascent up the holy hill without any food or drink.

Further, Singhania’s estranged wife stated, “That is the God of money, which is why he is such a big bhakt (of Lord Venkateswara) and not of any other God.” The industrialist, she had earlier said, was “kicking and punching” her and their kid. In an exclusive interview with India Today, Nawaz Modi claimed that Singhania may have internal bleeding due to the severity of her injuries, despite having reportedly wanted 75% of her income as a divorce settlement.

Following an eight-year romance, the 58-year-old billionaire Gautam Singhania and Nawaz Modi, the daughter of counsel Nadar Modi, were married in 1999. Earlier this month, Singhania declared their split from Nawaz, stating that they had chosen to go in separate directions.

In a statement, Gautam Singhania urged respect for his privacy and stated that he wished to preserve his family’s honor for the benefit of his two girls. He also declined to discuss further. Singhania stated that “preserving the dignity of my family is paramount to me” and that he has opted not to comment on media stories “about matters pertaining to my personal life” in a recent internal email to Raymond’s staff and board members.
